There is one important distinction to note here. The land is what ties the three countries together. A union forced by physical connection. In my opinion this is very important to US because most other successful countries do the same with their neighboring countries. Not to say it works out for everyone, but it is better to go at as a group than as an individual. The global economic competition is fierce. We need all the help we can get. Money talks. So the more a union of countries earn the better the relationships. When that money does not roll in people in the group point fingers at each other. Making the situation worse.
