Steepshot as you know is directly tied to Steemit and STEEM, while Appics is a project with it’s own currency. As first Smart Media Token, we have the opportunity to use the Steem blockchain as a foundation and build an ecosystem on top of it.

On Steemit the „wales“ drive the ecosystem and because they filter the content their power should be used accordingly, judged by experts in the different categories, include existing influencer networks and help new content creators to become visible.
The team of APPICS was a digital marketing agency prior to founding APPICS and is well networked in the mainstream world. Therefore popular social media figures will be included as category judges and the content will be based on a 15-category social system which is necessary in order to get any blockchain based social media to work. Because influencers build their own communities and reward the best posts within their category, it ensures that high quality creative content gets rewarded the most. Also, the APPICS team are early adopters on Steemit, know the community well, what is missing and understand the bridge between crypto and mainstream media. Furthermore APPICS will have an integrated shop system which is ideal for merchants and where users can spend their earned XAP. This additional feature as well as our discovery page where brands can get featured helps longterm scaling and lower the inflation rate to create a sustainable ecosystem from the start.

Because of this and other aspects APPICS is different from steepshot.

Thanks for reply @sirwinchester.
So if I understand correctly I should use Appics over Steepshot because...

  1. An ecosystem focused on photos, opposed to all kinds of different content to "compete" with.
  2. Better quality content because of experts in each category.
  3. Easier to be discovered/rewarded for quality content.
  4. More potential for mainstream adoption.

Is that about right?

Yes, you got that right.
On top of that, APPICS will have other features like an integrated shop system, encrypted messenger, and later on even a credit card.

That was useful, I am already into Appics and information you provided here made more secure about my decision.
