Harvesting comes easy!
One of the best souvenirs that I could ever take!
Harvesting is definitely trilled and joyful
Not only to the farmers but also to a layman like me.
From seeding to planting
From watering to growing
From nothing to something
And it's always been the best moment for harvesting!
It was just another leisure day in Cameron Highlands
Out of a sudden I was craving for some fresh fruits.
I, literally mean FRESH fruits.
"Persimmon? persimmons are what you're wanting?",
My dad asked calmly.
"Yes yes! And avocados! And Love Fruits! (爱情果)",
Little greedy voice I replied.
"Let's get yourself ready,
We are going to get some."
I guess most people do know that
Cameron Highlands with its unique climate can produce
many only-can-be-seen-overseas fruits;
Nonetheless what they may not know is that
other than the fame and famous strawberries and sweet corns,
there are many other crops which can be planted
but being treated undervaluingly.
Persimmons are one excellent example -
You can seasonally see them in the market but the price is sky high
simply because they are imported from Japan or Australia or other "crops-rich" countries.
Meanwhile in Cameron these fruits can be eaten free (OK at least for me) :)
Persimmons do not need to be ripened so as to be harvested,
The fruits will continue to grow and turn from raw pale green to firely red-orange
even after it's plucked from the tree.
While this fruit is loaded with lots of nutrients
And is classified as weight loss-friendly food,
What more importantly during the cropping is that
the close bonding that was created
which makes me even more firmed with
the importance of family being spending quality time together.
How a simple activity can spark joy?
It's possibly one of best takeaways that I could ever had!
