Saturday Sitar Jam with Tabla

in #dtube6 years ago (edited)

This started out as an improvisation on my sitar in Ravi Shankar tuning. Later i added some percussion via my Roland handsonic's tabla setting. The fractal overlay was created in jwildfire and imposed on the video in adobe after effects. Thanks for listening :-)

WOW what a sound, wish I could try to play it. Art is just amazing!

Sitar isn't too hard to learn/play though it is hard to tune. Thanks for listening :-)

This. IS. AWESOME. I've wanted a sitar for agesss.

They are alot of fun and pretty easy to play especially with your guitar skills. Hardest part is tuning. I got this one from an old hippie it would be so much easier to have one with machine head tuners, wood peg tuners are such a pain.

Is this electric and that's is how the tabla is set?

I recorded the sitar acoustically then added effects. I played the tabla sounds on this drum controller https://www.roland.com/us/products/handsonic_hpd-20/
It's a pretty handy midi controller as well. There's lots of world drum settings built into it as well.
