I have to point out that there are more than two options. People on farkbork; people everywhere, are at all different points in their journeys. Many people will remain captive to their learned helplessness, some will leave immediately, as you and I have, and never look back, but some will need some time to think about stuff, and try to buck the herd when they are ready.
If activists are cowed by surveillance to the point they don't reach people with their message, the statists win. Forever. @dbroze HAS to go there to be an activist.
I have to agree about the Rainbow family being a disaster in terms of political sophistication. I tried to help a few out once, and they tried to talk me into poaching deer, ripped a custom feature I had built right off the wall because they couldn't figure out a simple hook and loop, and I had to call a guys mother to get her to come and get him, so I could avoid a violent confrontation.

rainbow is just the idea that we can all get along, hippies, bikers, hobos, academics and also the idea that if everyone just has a festival in the woods together and shares it will be a good time. yeah, hobo/biker/hippies can be a rough crowd that damages upholstery.
but the idea is they are humans and what kind of hospitality and openness is it if that's all it takes to make you avoid someone? sure take care of your stuff, but it's sick in the head to live the way most people do in isolation.
this is obviously a big threat to someone, because now it's entirely run by police dressed up as hippies, bikers, hobos and with a good number of children and teenagers trying to entrap people into anything they can.
it demonstrates what happens to openness in a police state. it explains in a lot of ways why if you go out places hardly anyone is actually meeting new people, and most people probably go weeks at a time without meeting a new person.
The documentary hypernormalization is the only work that appropriately diagnoses it, and if you haven't diagnosed it you can't do anything about it.

the oregon national rainbow gathering 2017 page is obviously run by police, i observed it. if dbroze continues as he's going now, eventually his page will be run by them too. i find it odd that someone else posts to his steemit for him. that's what you do with organizations not your personal.

judging by the utter weakness of your responses and your failure to demonstrate any actual anarchism, for instance that someone else puppets your personal accounts in a form of representation and the great aggrandized identity of dbroze, plus unrepentant use of authoritarian tools....
everything you do is highly suspect. the us government is trying to create people who look just like you to create fake sites and organizations. there are other things like 'TCR' that i am investigating in a similar fashion.
very disappointing, you should rethink all of your 'work' because nothing about it is revolutionary or conscious.

You seem to have a very simplified, black & white, non-experiential understanding of what activism is, and how people can maximize their effectiveness as activists. Most journalists/podcasters/authors do not have the time of day to manage a variety of social media platforms, while also doing the work that they actually have to get done. You're also assuming that the people doing this work aren't getting paid well (which they are in every case I know [which is a LOT]). As someone who has mastered markdown, knows Steemit inside & out, and has plenty of time on my hands, I love being able to help out lots of friends with having a presence here, because otherwise their content wouldn't be on Steemit, and everyone would lose.
Your level of paranoia, combined with speaking from total ignorance, definitely gives you the sound of the next mass shooter to be called an "anarchist" and "anti-government" then used as an excuse to crack down on folks actually doing the work required to change things.
