You will be fined in Dubai, if you break the rules for pedestrians.

Dubai RTA’s smart sticker is being rolled put on lamp posts located at major locations, roads & pedestrian crossings.

The smart sensor IDs the jaywalker’s Emirates ID: the national identification card that every UAE resident carries; even if the Emirates ID is carried in a pocket, purse or wallet!

If a pedestrian crosses a zebra crossing displaying a red signal or not using the specified zebra crossing, an IoT sensor activates a fine of AED 420 within 5 minutes of the infraction.

Using your mobile while crossing a road is discouraged.
