Has The NBA Become More About The Players?

Has the NBA become more about the players than the teams? I say this to contrast between say soccer/football where ultimately, the fans are loyal to the clubs more than the individual players.

Sure, we all have our favorite players but usually, fans are fans of the club and not the players themselves.

In the era of super teams where superstar players get traded to teams for a couple of years and they win everything, I am not sure who or what exactly the fans are rooting for. It almost feels like playing with a cheat code.

Anyway, that's just my opinion after reading about players like Lillard who is trying to win a championship for Portland rather than join forces with another star elsewhere and win that championship.

They are a rare breed. Giannis is another one that comes to mind. Maybe if the supporting cast at GS were to leave and it was more Steph Curry, that would be another one.
