What is Dynamics 365?

Microsoft launched the Dynamics 365 product line at the end of 2016. It is an integrated software solution combining the enterprise resource planning (ERP) and the customer relationship management (CRM) applications. Launched and sold in two editions one for small and medium businesses (SMBs) known as the Business Edition, and the Enterprise Edition catering to the needs of medium to large organizations. The Business Edition includes the Financial application, based on the project code-named ‘Madeira’. Dynamics 365 for Operations is the alternate name for the Enterprise Edition - comprising the Microsoft’s AX product together with Dynamics CRM applications (field service, sales, project service automation, and customer service) plus the Microsoft PowerApps.

The difference between the Two Editions of Dynamics 365:

Business Edition

The Dynamics 365 Business Edition is released for companies with 10-250 employees, making it less expensive from the other. In Dynamics 365 Business edition one can start by purchasing the user rights to at least one of the business Edition modules:
· Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Business Edition
· Dynamics 365 for Customer Service, Business Edition
· Dynamics 365 for Sales, Business Edition

These applications have unique functionalities of their own. Since these applications are 100% integrated with one another, it gives the flexibility to the user to add more modules as needed.

Enterprise Edition

For companies more than 250 employees Microsoft recommends the Dynamics 365, Enterprise Edition, definitely the higher powered among the two Editions.
One can start by purchasing the user rights to any one of the modules and add more modules as needed or as they scale up. The modules available in the Enterprise Edition are as follows:
