I bought these for my daughter's first flight since I was worried that her ears might hurt during take off and landing. These are noise reducing but not noise cancelling. We really didn't use them because she didn't like wearing them. I tried them and they seemed comfortable and it did reduce the noise. My daughter just didn't like having anything on her head and covering her ears. If your child doesn't mind wearing them I think they would do a good job to reduce noise. And they did cover over her whole ears so I do not think it would be too uncomfortable.
