Bright golden flames danced from a newly placed log over glowing hot peach embers. The night was still during dark moon and of course not the best evening for hunting. While the nights were so dark perhaps the Elven hunters stayed in their village much deeper in the forest. At least they knew better than to make camp with a blazing fire on the shores of the eastern sea during this part of the moon's cycle. It was the brightest light around and the shadowy flickers of flashes, like a strobe, made their location known to many eyes for mile around.
If it was attention Tab wanted well then he was getting it for out from the forest, just as he was turning to look, with a huge bound lunging toward him was a big heap of a man.
" By the gods! Ye nearly skeert tha Loki outa me!", said Tad startled.
"Aye, and how bout yew be out there fetchin' wood in the black. See how slow you'd be headin' back." replied Dane, dropping the arm full of firewood he was carrying.
They were attempting to catch the eye of the ship they were waiting for. Tab and Dane were what was left of their scouting party, now returned with their findings.
"Well now, I get yer meanin', I get yer meanin'. Just hope the fire's bright 'nough fer Seagard and the boys to see." said Tab as he peered into the black where meet the sea and sky. " A man can't see a thing lookin' out cross the waters tonight. That's fer certain."
Farms mostly, with one village centered around some sort of temple. Plundering from the sea can be tricky, the temple village was ideal. For as it sat, with a fairly large population just above sea level, there were no big obstacles standing in the way between the village and the shore. Pyrats were always looking for opportunities to get rich quick or steal what they wanted. This was a rather common symptom of forgetting one's place and a low self-esteem. Viewed as they were the outcasts and criminals by The Company and other order driven paths.
"Its the only light to see anywhere out beyond camp." replied Dane as silence fell and the crackling of the fire echoed into the darkness. Flying Crows giving warning calls sending Fairy sparks with word cross the veil in the Black.

The merry crew set anchor off the fiery shore.
A signal from scouts sure to tell them more.
Two men standing where there once was four
With such a blaze, out to be seen for sure
Smothering clouds on a bulling wind
Heavy damp darkness slowly closing in
"Send off the Cherry Picker!" ordered Flynn
Four oarsmen and Seagard set to firelight dim
Approaching the campsite in full dismay
Out went the fire with one simple wave
In pitch black darkness Seagard heard to say
"Tab where's yer sprig at? This fine day!"
Through splashing and fumbling in the dark
A little pale flicker then a glow from a spark
"What took yer so long?", smiling, Tab barked
"Twas the glare o yer fire!" Seagard's laughing remark
Cherry Picker sat low receiving loot and crew
The way back to the ship, none of them knew

Waiting for dawn as depths of darkness grew
Morning sun change black sea and sky blue
A Misty blue-grey white light appeared out at sea
Her sails shining stars guiding a midnight odyssey
Cherry Picker left out, setting sandy beach free
All attention turned to beacon blue in black mystery
Dawn came with hail and gales and a few torn sails
An empty deck with a fat mast straight as a rail
Below men gambled away gold by the pails
And old men smoking pipes telling tall tales
A hint of violet across the sky storm come and gone quicker
Above deck things had weathered fine except ol Cherry Picker
