I've always had a part of me interested in esotericism, mysteries, and those things that naturally awaken curiosity.
So, at some point, I found my way to Tarot.
I already knew the more traditional Tarot thanks to a friend, but when I discovered the Thoth Tarot, something felt different.
The first thing that caught my attention was the artwork.
The cards were created by Lady Frieda Harris, based on the system developed by Aleister Crowley, and there was something about them that made me want to stop and look at them for a little longer.
At first, I simply thought the artwork was amazing.
Then I started discovering that there was much more behind those images.
The Thoth Tarot consists of 78 cards: 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana.
But what really makes it fascinating is that its symbolism goes far beyond Tarot itself.
The cards contain connections to astrology, Qabalah, alchemy, numerology, and many other symbolic systems.
And that was what really caught me.
Because it's one thing to look at a card and ask:
"What does this mean?"
But it's something completely different to ask:
Why was it drawn this way?
Why that color?
Why that symbol?
Why that particular figure?
That's where my curiosity really began.
I started looking for information about how to perform readings, how to prepare the cards, how to consecrate them, and all the ritual surrounding this kind of practice.
And my first reading was a very personal one.
I also have to admit something: I followed along with YouTube videos. 😅
Just like we do with so many things when we're learning something new.
Over time, I learned more about the history of the deck, its creator, Frieda Harris's work, and especially all the symbolism hidden within the cards.
I didn't learn everything at once. It was something I discovered little by little.
Until, as happens with many things in life...
the deck ended up sitting in a drawer.
For quite a long time.
But this time, I decided to take it out again.
And maybe this is a good opportunity to rediscover it.
One Card at a Time
From now on, I want to do something a little different.
Once a week, I'll choose one card at random and dedicate a post to it.
I don't want to simply repeat the meaning found on some random website.
I want to research the card, observe its artwork, explore its symbols and correspondences, and understand its place within the Thoth system.
And, of course, I'll also share what it means to me.
There are 78 cards waiting for us.
So we have quite a journey ahead.
I don't know which card will be the first.
And that's exactly the point.
We'll find out next week.

Yeah I lived like a pagan most of my life despite being a cradle Catholic so I definitely know what you're going thru. One day you will get back on the path to God. We all have our own timelines anyway. hehe. Just thought I'd comment because I could relate somehow.
