Hi,
in Germany we have now the Green dictatorship from the green party. They are more red than green as they try to forbid anything else than what they like. They are aimed towards socialism and not ecology.
Also the Fridays for Future movement does the same thing, protesting but not doing something effective for the planet.
The politics it's killing the industry, the main driver for wealth and with it cleanliness in Germany. The not so developed countries that aim to grow will seldom be able to insert clean technologies.
So all this discussions on forbidding cars, planes, meat, travel, work, people with money has no sense and no future in the end.
From a political point of view, to focus on innovation and clean infrastructure as the clean electrical energy from the North can't be used in the South, so what point to buy an electrical car if it is not using clean power.
At the moment, electrical cars are not viable. They are cool, are the future, but still have a bigger CO2 footprint than the diesel ones.
So what steps I would suggest to be better than the socialist mention above:
- plant each year at least a tree (go and ask at the forestry department when and where trees can be planted)
- even if you buy a tree which is planted by someone else you are far better than most people
- like @schlafhacking mentioned, plant a fruit tree, as you get double bonus, food and clean air
- an easy one now, never leave trash behind and pick up your own trash
- recycle it when possible
- pick the trash of someone else, even a small plastic bottle or a bag that is recycled is something more
- don't buy more food than you need. This shall be common sense as you save a lot of money
- donate the food that you can't eat. I go and give out the food when we leave for vacation or are out of the house for a couple of days
With this small steps you do more for the planet than 95% of the ones protesting or arguing in politics about what cars to be forbidden, to what speed and how much meat a person shall be allowed to it.
Newcomers from you know where will definitely follow your suggestions.
Good luck, my friend.
