Fertility decline is shrinking the consumer base all over the developed world.

Central banks have printed masses of money to hide falling real demand for things because of fewer consumers.
The wealthy have captured much of this new money (with the rest going mainly to illegal immigrants) pushing their consumerism to crazy heights.

But this is unsustainable and fragile as it is mostly discretionary spending that will be cut in a downturn.

When the penny drops that most companies face endlessly falling demand for their products from fewer and fewer consumers, the markets will crash, slashing asset values and wealth.
Discretionary spending by the wealthy will be cut further exacerbating the downturn.

You got it right, western fertility is getting worse and worse and that leads to problems... Also less people that can work and provide services (example medics at hospitals) and retirement payment system might collapse too
