I found on Youtube a video showing the Milton Friedman Choir singing about Friedman's definiton of a corporation.
This song perfectly describes the flawed core assumption of neoliberalism supporters.
They erroneusly thought that shifting control from governments to corporations would result in:
- the restoration of free market,
- the increase of comeptition,
- the increase of efficiency,
- the reduction of wasteful spending,
- the elimination of political influence in economy,
- the rule of technocrats instead of bureaucrats etc.
However, they underestimated the following side-effects visible today such as:
- the creation of rigged economy,
- the rise of oligarchy,
- whole sectors of economy being controlled by the oligopoly of companies,
- the elimination of competition due to out-of control regulations etc.
In other words, the neoliberalist approach resulted not in the restoration of capitalism, but in the creation of corporate communism!
Regarding the song - I like it, but I would update the lyrics. Here are my suggestions:
"so if you want your freedom
take the matters in your hands
there is no better way,
let's liberalise and deregulate,
let's kick the government from our schools,
let's free the money from central bank rule,
let's remove the oligarchs from their stools,
let's restore the free market and
let it make the rules
With the updated wording, the song could become the official liberiterian anthem.
