Aphrodisiac, heals scars & skin trauma, anti-inflammatory, effective against the deadly Staphylococcus aureus, calms nervous energy and is used to treat conditions ranging from Parkinson's Disease, sleep disorders & low libido to epilepsy and "hyper-active children" (if, indeed, one believed in labeling original, free-spirited, challenging and out-of-the-box children).
Nope. It's NOT CBD, hemp, ganja, grass, weed or any other name you care to give to cannabis and its extracted products.
It's often called Miracle Grass. Vetiver, formerly known as Vetiveria zizanioides L. Nash, but now reclassified as Chrysopogon zizanioides L. Roberty. But here in Thailand, it is commonly just called "the King's grass" in acknowledgement of the astounding work done by King Rama IX Bhumibol Aduljadev to introduce vetiver to the mountains of northern Thailand for erosion control.
It's the roots that are so incredible. Not only is the root system of vetiver ENORMOUS - hence its application for preventing soil erosion - but the roots contain fragrant oil (similar in fragrance to sandalwood) which can be extracted by steam distillation. It is this oil that is so incredibly fragrant, healing and magical. And expensive. One kilogram can set you back round about $750, even here in developing Thailand.
Just the last days I found myself talking about vetiver a lot.
Why?
- A friend has a creative, handful, over-the-top, energetic almost two year old. Having noticed a big change to his night terrors after applying magnesium oil, I suggested she use some vetiver oil I had given to her for massage to support him to listen, settle more easily, sleep better and be a little calmer;
- I was making a batch of Intensive Skin Repair Balm for our local pharmacy (she sells it there) - vetiver oil is a key ingredient;
- And I am making an order of tattoo after care balm for our celebrity tattoo client, and vetiver is also a key ingredient.
It's hard to imagine that a humble grass could have such profound uses in health and healing. If you want to know more, you should definitely check out https://draxe.com/vetiver-oil/ and http://www.vetiver.org/ That a simple oil from a prolific grass could treat epilespy and Parkinsons, rev up your sex drive, heal your acne and your new tattoo, while it repels termites and helps kids brain function??? The magic of Mother Earth sometimes seems to have no limits. No wonder they just call it "Miracle Grass".
It is an absolute blessing that my "work" days are enveloped by exotic and erotic fragrances! Did I win a cosmic lottery somehow? Haha... BlissednBlessed to be working with the abundance of nature and making it available to people 'out there' who need and enjoy simple natural, chemical free delights in their day to day.

I don't have tattoos, am a bit over 2 years old, but I do get really dry skin and this oil surely works!
I love my little Nabi and KittyMama. Can you imagine shaving Nabi so he could use the yummy oil on his tom cat fighting scars?? haha... :)
Love it! You literally are a hub, not only for natural healing herbs and plants but for connections too. So many seeds are planted in @artemislives garden! Looking forward to caring and growing them with you! 🙏
I am VERY fond of planting seeds! And learning to share the tending and (after the recent Thai fruit gluts as a cosmic sign) sharing the abundance. As it should be. :)
This is amazing and I had no idea it even existed! My mind is blown and I can't wait to look into it! Thank you for providing website links too! Talk about some great benefits! Sex drive? Umm...Hell ya! Healing acne? Who would say no to that!? And brain function? I may not be firing on all cylinders until I drink some coffee but hook it up with some more brain function!
Oh and I just thought this was hilarious:
""hyper-active children" (if, indeed, one believed in labeling original, free-spirited, challenging and out-of-the-box children)."

This is such a wonderful post! Everyone should know about this magical grass! Since using it on Kai I have noticed that for starters he loves it. Maybe it's the smell maybe it's the feeling I don't know but he definitely gets excited more so than ever to get his massages now that it's part of the process. And the other thing I've noticed is that he seems much calmer after an application! Will continue to use it and let you know how it goes! Thank you so so much for always looking out for us! We deeply appreciate all that you do! Sending so so much love to you! 😘
