RE: Small Change, Big Difference: Single Use Plastic Bottles, Straws, and Other Containers

in #ecotrain6 years ago

@solarsupermama, thanks for bringing up this great post about plastic pollution. Earth Day 2018 had as theme “End Plastic Pollution”, the 2018 World Environment Day’s theme was “Beat Plastic Pollution” and World Day to Combat Desertification theme is “Land has true value. Invest in it!” These days effectively call on us to change our production and consumption patterns and think about the long term impacts of our every action. Plastic pollution is a major problem and I am afraid to say that we are investing in a plastic future for our future (children).
Its really scary to read about some of the plastic pollution facts and we all need to stop the use of single-use light weight plastics. If you can’t reuse it, refuse it!
I appreciate your efforts in fighting plastic pollution and if everyone can just change their mindsets and do something, the world will be a cleaner, healthier and better place.
You must have already read some of my actions to fight plastic pollution in my country and I am going to intensify these actions.
Styrofoam is really from the devil and we are working on a plan to end its usage in our community.

I have been really impressed with all the things you are doing, and I admire the power of your commitment.
It is sad here partly because it is so beautiful here but also because it just keeps increasing. We can still return glass soda and beer bottles here, but I see a lot of people switching to plastic soda bottles, and it just makes a bad problem worse. Styrofoam is definitely evil. Anyone who has picked up tiny compressed bits from the beach will testify to that. They are trying to ban it here. I sure hope so.
