Competition, Cooperation, and an Open Mind

in #education6 years ago

I’ve been reading (okay spot-reading) a few books this past week or two. Titles include:

The Inner Runner by Jason Karp
-Fascinating! Unearths the science behind and between competition and cooperation. Sprinkles in self-education and personal betterment. I am STUCK on this book for awhile. Five stars.

Braving the Wilderness by Brene Brown
-A few pages in I am not a fan of Brown herself because she is crass, her language does not reflect a PhD level scholar. But the sage wisdom of vulnerability does translate to knowledge of self and a more peaceful life. Honestly, I’d rather read the Psalms. That one is going back to the library. Two stars.

Thanks, But I’llTeach My Own Kid by J Lopez
-Just when I was feeling like the uphill battle of homeschooling with kids first grade and toddler years, this was a pick-me-up. Reminder of not wanting my kids distracted by bullying, pornography, foul language, politics, divisiveness, lies, cheating, betrayal. Not yet. I love their innocence and we have better conversations. And if you wanna ask about socialization-no we don’t miss out. We get plenty and my children can associate with all ages very well. They are not overstimulated or toxic. They are bright and happy and truly peaceful. Have you been in society lately? It sucks. Homeschool is really the only option right now.

Bouncing Forward by Michaela Haas
-Have only skimmed this, but it was the emphasized theme of my time on Active Duty. Cultivating resilience. I’d say I am a very resilient woman, wife, mother. Especially since losing many friends to being truthful and unashamedly honest. Forgiveness, love, growth, play, survival, prayer, thriving, stepping back to breathe. Just some chapter themes. And just as my oldest daughter begins a month long study on contentment. I will be joyful. No more grudges - that gives someone space in my Head rent-free.
Personal improvement is a journey, so I will put this in the toolbox and read on.

Reading is really important. Really. If I am to raise strong women, they must be readers and reflectors of light 💡!

Have a lovely day. Enjoy a good book while the market tanks and try not to get caught up in the FUD.
