Memorize the Top Twenty Steemit Whales with Memory Techniques (Episode 2)

in #education8 years ago (edited)
This is the second part of my How to Memorize Steemit Whales Guide. Today we are looking at the top 11 to 20 positions of our Steemit Whales. You will learn how to memorize their names and how to list them all from memory.

The List of Whales

We begin with the list of the top 11-20 whales by Steem Power. I researched them on SteemWhales. If you are interested in the previous ten, check out my first article in the series. The criteria to make it on this list was recent activity and having at least a few hundred of posts. I left all the passive accounts out.

Here are the Whales that made it on the list:

  1. @renohq

  2. @fuzzyvest

  3. @gavvet

  4. @recursive

  5. @transisto

  6. @glitterfart

  7. @fulltimegeek

  8. @slowwalker

  9. @donkeypong

  10. @abdullar

The Keywords for each Whale

Quoted from my previous article (it will probably trigger the Cheetah Bot):

In memory techniques we translate abstract information like names into keywords which should be easier to visualize. Everything like concrete nouns, active verbs and visual adjectives will suffice. We can also use other people, if they relate somehow.

On one hand keywords can be phonetically similar to the word we are encoding. On the other hand they can also be a symbol which somehow reminds us of the information. I will try to keep the images as general as possible so that most people can relate. But they will not always work for everybody. Just try to find your own keywords, if you don't like mine.

Disclaimer: These images can be funny, sexy, crazy and sometimes even offensive. I try to avoid the last category but usually we do this just for ourselves and then nobody needs to know.

@renohq = Renault + HQ

More Possible keywords: rain, rent, renovation

@fuzzyvest = fuzzy + vest

More Possible keywords: Honestly?

@gavvet = gavel

More Possible keywords: gift, gaff, gaffer, Gavotte (French dance)

@recursive = fractal

I had to research what that actually means. Even now I am confused. Here is a definition for you tieing it to fractals. This only works if you already know that OR if you learn it RIGHT NOW. I think a fractal is a great image.

More Possible keywords: curse, cursive, course

Image Source

@transisto = transistor (radio)

More Possible keywords: transit, transport, trance

@glitterfart = glitter + fart (what were you thinking?)

More Possible keywords: It cannot get possibly any better than that

I was wrong: Finding this GIF certainly IS better! (Image Source)

@fulltimegeek = fulltime + geek

I was thinking too hard about this one. I tried to break it into several images like you see in the alternative keywords. But seeing it as one harmonic image is probably better.

More Possible keywords: full (cup of water), clock (time), geek

@slowwalker = slow + walker

More Possible keywords: Really? Again?

@donkeypong = Donkey Kong + Pong

More Possible keywords: Donkey, Ping Pong

@abdullar = abs + Dollar

More Possible keywords: no idea

Creating the Memory Story

That was even more work than the last time but I think the resulting images are great. Like in the first episode we will connect them bit by bit using the so-called Chain Method or Linking Method. That means connecting A with B, B with C, C with D and so on. We can continue our story with the whale from the first episode!

Let's begin:

Whale

While Trafalgar Law is distracted the whale jumps into a Renault car and drives to the whale headquarters.

Over there his fellow whales reach him a fuzzy battle vest.

Now he also needs a weapon. How about this wooden gavel? Yes, that feels right.

He smashes the gavel on the ground and a magical fractal appears, shifting reality for him.

Through the reality hole he holds a transistor radio and puts it on full volume. Of course the other side is right next to Trafalgar's ear.

The loud music shocks Trafalgar so much that he drops the bit of a coin. The whale grabs it and farts a huge glitter fart on him.

Out of the glitter appears a hovering fulltime geek. What have you done? This reality hole must be closed immediately! He types something into his laptop.

The hole closes but in slow motion. Too late: A dangerous slow walker from another dimension comes through, slowly, step by step.

We need help: The full time geek rings the alarm and Donkey Kong appears with a huge flying Pong racket which hits him towards the slow walker.

Donkey Kong smashes into the dangerous dimensional alien and hits it with a full blown strike on its abs with its Dollar gloves. Nothing can withstand a Dollar-blow!

That's it! This article took me many hours to prepare and write. I hope you enjoyed it and found some inspiration. To really learn this list it must be reapeated a few times otherwise you will forget it quickly again.
