Often, we blame students if they do not get good grades. In most cases, no one ever looks into other factors which might be the real cause of poor performance on the part of the students in a given classroom.

Have you ever thought of other factors which could be the reason for poor grades?
I will try to give an example through a real life case study. Not mentioning real names for reasons.
There is a student named X. X is studious, brilliant and quite hardworking. He is also a quick learner and reads for gaining knowledge. However, he does not have the ability to learn things by heart.
X is enrolled in a senior secondary class and the teachers are very dedicated and make sure that all students learn the subject. Their teaching methods are very good and the teachers themselves are updated.
X performs very well in his exam and scores above 90% in his exams.

X now joins a college. The teachers are okay but he is soon disillusioned by the fact that the teaching staff are not competent.
He studies on his own and manages to get good grades in the first few semesters.
Time passes and the interest to study lessens because the teachers do not bother to teach properly and they are unable to clear simple doubts too which leads to frustration among students who are now on the verge of getting an F grade.
X manages to pass his exams but with low grades and also loses interest in his classes.
Who is to blame? Is it the incompetent teacher or the students who expect to be spoon-fed all along?
In my opinion, the students should talk to the teacher and convey their fears and ask the teacher for proper guidance. The teacher should also make sure that the students understand the lesson.
It is a win win situation and reduces the chances to fail.
What is your opinion?
This is a very important concept that many look over. I personally can say there are a lot of intelligent students out there that face the similar situation are dulled down. Brilliant post! Thank for sharing it with us!
