Why is it good for your child to learn how to play chess.

Your child's left as well as his or her's right brain get developed by playing Chess.

  1. Children who can play chess do well in maths and science.

"Because you have to concentrate very well to play chess"

  1. It greatly improves your ability to concentrate.

  2. Chess helps a lot for a child who struggles with attention deficit disorder.

  3. Chess helps
    you to think logically.

Chess improves your children's ability to learn, remember and pay longer attention.
Scientific studies have already shown that chess improves
a child's intelligence.
This is actually logical because chess helps children how to solve problems.

Your child learns how to wait patiently while their opponent considers their options.

To play constantly video games are not good for your children.
Chess is an excellent alternative because it does not adversely affect your child. It is very good for the development of his mind.

By playing chess, children develop the ability to concentrate as it needs a lot of concentration to win a game of chess.

When your children play chess, they learn how to concentrate on a specific task for long periods of time.

Statistics indicate that more than 5% of children suffer from attention-deficit / hyperactivity disorder.

By playing chess it helps your child to keep their attention longer in one place.

It teaches your child how to think strategically. It teaches them how to plan and how to re-adjust a plan.

Good chess players think 3 or 4 steps ahead.
Each subsequent move teaches a child to ask them selves - what will happen if I do this? These thoughts help a child's brain to develop further.

Chess also teaches you to sacrifice something before you can achieve something better.

Interesting things about chess.

Did you know this?

  • In more than 30 countries, chess is compulsory.

  • More books have been written about chess than any other sport.

  • In World War II, they used brilliant chess players to analyze secret codes.

  • There are more than 600 million people who play chess daily.

  • There are 6 million positions on a chess board.

  • The word Checkmate
is derived from a Persian word "Shah Mat" which means "the king is dead".

A brief history of Chess.

Chess is one of the oldest games in history.
Chess has been around for 1500 years.

This is how chess came about. There was 1500 years ago an Indian king who wanted to teach his soldiers how to fight. He went to his advisers and told them that they had to invent a game that could teach his men not just how to fight, but how to think to fight.

Now that we've done all the hard work it's time to play Chess.

Chess Rules:

White always move first.

1.Before you touch any piece you first have to observe that there is no other soldiers that might kill you. Because in Chess it works like this. The piece you touch must be moved.

When you are playing in competitions, you are not allowed to talk. The only two words that you allow to say is: "check" and "checkmate".

Things you have to look out for:

Make sure that all your soldiers are under protection.

For Example
The White Bishop is in danger al though it move under protection. If the Black Bishop or Black Rook capture it. Then the White Knight and White Rook is there to help.

You have to protect your King at all times, because if he is being captured you lose the game. We call it checkmate.

You always have to make sure that your soldiers are also protected.

Now that we've done all the hard work it's time to play chess.

Let's look at the following examples, then you might understand better.

The White Bishop is in danger al though it moved under protection. If the Black Bishop or Black Rook capture it. Then the White knight and Rook is there to help.

Project 6 (3).jpg

In this example, move the White Bishop on a save place.
None of the Black Soldiers can capture it.

Project 6 (5).jpg

In this example the White king is in check by the Black Queen. The white king has only one place to go.It can only go to the black block. It is nearley in Checkmate.

Project 6 (9).jpg

The White King is in Checkmate
There are four reasons.

1* It is in Check by the Black Queen
2If the King moves to the white block the Black bishop can capture it.
3
The King can't move to the black block because then the Knight will capture it.
In other words the White king is in Checkmate because it can't go nowhere. White loose and Black Win.
now black is allowed to say Checkmate.
I hope you learn a lot and you are ready to play chess now.
