Unfortunately public school doesn't really prepare you much of anything outside of doing what your told. Kids don't learn the shit they should be learning to live. How to manage credit cards, pay bills, invest. It's a horrible system! @trendhobo

My neighborhood school brings the special needs children to the grocery store every Thursday. They are learning to budget for the group, use coupons, find bargains, pay for the items, then go back and follow a recipe and measure ingredients to prepare their lunch.
Many of these children will grow to live at home or in group homes. And although I find this class good and necessary, none of the other schoolchildren are offered these basic skills.
