My Voting Policy Until The End Of This Month

in #engagement5 years ago

Until the end of this month or the next two and a half days, I will devote all my voting power towards upvoting comments. Thus I will not be upvoting any top-level post no matter how good or no matter how juicy an opportunity to snipe for massive curation rewards.

I pledge this in the spirit of @anomadsoul's initiative:

That's interesting. Read @anomadsoul post just now.

I am curious to see if there are any "forced" engagements with the mission to "earn" rewards. I have noticed some people engaging in the comment section -- with a question -- while the factual answer is hidden within the content.

It is disappointing to see. And we may see more of it if everyone's gonna vote comments - and not posts.

I don't think there's any chance of that happening. So many autovotes on posts. Never does everyone get on board with initiatives like this.

True.

A bit off-topic: I am surprised as I used to get lots of autovotes (thought it was a "good" thing) only to realize no curators will vote on autoupvoted posts... and now even those autovotes are gone for some reason.

Not sure what's going on.

On the other side, the initiative to drive engagement comes mostly from good content. And so if more good content is produced, we will observe quality engagement - that is rewarded equally well.

Curators do vote on autovoted posts.

And the autovotes are not gone. I suspect hive.vote is only having some minor issues.

This is a good idea! I see your logic!

Hmm... that's an interesting idea. Though I've already been voting comments whenever I see them just to encourage comments. And I still vote on posts. I don't see a reason not to vote on good posts, but I do see the benefit in voting comments. (That's why I've kept doing it since time immemorial. 😎)

I do that as an experiment to spare my voting power to be used on comments only.
