I have mentioned a few times how much I love Dropouttv. Dropout is now a streaming app available on many smart TVs as well as on computers. In order to explain how much I, and many other rabid fans, love it, many of us actually chose to pay MORE money for the service.
A few months ago, subscribers got an email saying "Many of you have asked how to give us tips or pay more, so if you want you can pay us an extra $60 per year". I leapt at the chance to show my appreciation. They later announced we will get some kind of VIP benefits for when live shows go on sale and things like that, but I don't care. I just wanted to thank and encourage them for making content I love and for just being good people. (Luckily this is not on Hive because I am sure someone would have a disagreements over rewards and negate my extra pay... kidding).
Several months ago, one the shows Game Changers did a show where members of the comedy team pitched different ideas. Fans got to vote based on Youtube views, sharing on social media, etc. During that episode a hilarious (and quite odd) woman named Katie Marovitch pitched the idea of doing a D&D campaign called "Dimension 20: on a Bus". Katie is one of my favorite performers on the service by the way. Dropout has lots of D&D content and are also friendly with another D&D show called Critical Roll.But Katie knows nothing about the game. So the idea of her running a D & D campaign was pretty absurd. But sure enough, she dressed in full elf costume, gathered up four of the best DMs (Dungeon Masters) in the world and decided to have them participate as players... in a game she didn't even understand.
Although they only created a few minute clip about the "campaign" Katie as "Dragon Master" was as funny as anyone could hope. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. The fact that Brennan Lee Mulligan, my favorite DM, was so seriously annoyed made the experience that much better. They created merch based on the clip (I of course bought the shirt) and fans pined for a real full-length episode. No one thought it would ever happen.
And then two days ago, my daughter sent me a link to a trailer for season two of Dimension 20... On A Bus. After my initial wave of excitement waned a little, I looked at the date. April...1st. Curses! It was a freaking April Fool's Day joke. I was so sad... until my wife reminded me that a Taun Taun sleeping bag had become as a April Fool's Day joke and became a reality. Perhaps this one would too. But that was simply too much to dream for.
Yes. Of course I own this.
And then, at seven O'Clock, I decided to check Dropout TV just to see if there was a longer bit. To my delight, there was indeed a full 55 minute episode. Thinking it was too good to be true I fully prepared for it to be a Rick Roll... but it wasn't. For the next 55 minutes of my daughter and my life... which I thought might be my last, we laughed louder and longer than either of has ever laughed. I laughed so hard I could not breathe. But if I were going to go out, this would have been the way to go. I can't wait to re-watch it!
I don't know how I can truly describe it. But if you are fan of comedy or D & D I'm sure you'll think it is hilarious. Even given months to figure out literally anything about the game, Katie was still as oblivious as ever. The things she asked the players to do made no sense... except for it was funny. Her role as "Dragon Master" is one of the funniest train wrecks I have ever seen. When do you roll? Who knows? Why do you roll? Who knows? What do you need to get? A six! Always a six. Why? Who knows. And if you want to add something to your roll, Katie will randomly pick a number from her TI-83 calculator. Why? Who knows?
If you are into weird humor, check this out. It might not be for everyone but man was it for me!
I never really got into D&D when I was younger. There was that whole stigma around it in the 80's or whatever and given my upbringing it was never much of an option. Though I am also kind of surprised I never got into MTG because that seems like something I really would have enjoyed.

The whole Dimension 20 On a Bus concept is already chaotic enough but having Katie Marovitch run it without understanding the game? That’s the kind of idea that should never work and somehow becomes legendary because it doesn’t.
It's a very good streaming service, according to what you mentioned in your post, and you can get extra benefits as a VIP customer for a reasonable price of $60, so I hope you enjoy it to the fullest with the programming you love.
Greetings, friend. I have a question: can I watch the DropoutTV streaming channel on YouTube without any problems, or would I have to pay to watch such a great series as "Dimension 20" On A Bus? If so, it wouldn't be possible right now, but since it's free, I'll definitely check it out.
There is lots of free stuff on youtube but for the full service it is $6.99 per month.
Thanks for the information; that explains why I was looking and couldn't find anything. So, I have to pay the $6.99. Well, I guess it's a reasonable price, but right now it's an unnecessary expense for me because we have other needs to cover. In the meantime, I'll try to find some free material.
Reading your blog shows how enjoyable the content of Dropout is, especially Katie Marovitch's Dragon Master, who created some really messy but hilarious D&D sessions.
What would be the definition of absurd humor? I'd like to understand a bit about what Dropout TV shows are about and see if I might enjoy them for a bit of fun.
I think we don't have this stream service here... Never heard of it... But usually I use "free" streams 🤣
