Y'all heard about precious plastic?
I'm gonna give it a shot, collect plastic waste from businesses and neighbours, recycle it into 3d printer filament. which is a lot easier said than done. But it could be sustainable as heck. if I can nail down the method, I can cut down the area's plastic waste and have the whole thing pay for itself, producing a sustainable 3d printing resource, that can be recycled again and again so that nothing goes to waste. What's gonna be extremely fun is attempting to make HDPE filament work, which is notorious for having incredibly high shrinkage.
It's a more human and personal approach. the name is apt. precious plastic. where the aim is also to change the mindset we apply to our plastics. instead of dirtying them up and getting them out of sight and out of mind as quickly as possible, we should take the time to give them a rinse, peel off the label, and sort them, as they are a precious resource that can be used for so many things.
