BitShares in The Balkans: University Workshop in Zagreb, Croatia
Suggested Duration: 5 minutes
A workshop was held on February 1, 2018 in Zagreb, Croatia at the Effectus University College for Law and Finance. The workshop was run by Bojan Tomić (Head Of The Finance Department & Lecturer at University College for Finance and Law Effectus), and Domagoj Poljak (Undergraduate Teaching Assistant, VP of the Student Government & MBA - Taxes and Corporate Law student).
"Participants are all related to studies & professional activity of finance, economics and business analytics in the Balkans. Namely, Croatia, Bosnia, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia - and will further be active with BitShares Slovenia DEX when launched. Beyond opening the possibility of BitShares to these territories, they are embracing concept of the DAC, and keen to give back to the community by understanding this is a symbiosis which brings potential. Their expertise is already being extended to terminology, both financial and legal areas, of BitShares for applying it to business models in Europe and beyond."
The workshop was supported by @apasia.tech which is in the process of establishing BitShares Slovenia.
@taconator many thanks on behalf of @apasia.tech for this mention and topic discussion. Balkans is strong and unknown territory to many around here, but consists on strong community and some of best Educational resources around the globe.
We tend to believe that Foundation of any success comes from proper education. If Bitshares can be used as a tool in Finance Education in example Bojan and Domagoj presented, but on larger scale, we would accomplish more than just having liquidity or successful token factory.
Bojan is active trader and member of community and more of his students and associates are joining the network. Slovenia as the top organized and regulated country towards Bitcoin and crypto and having successful Corp such as BitStamp that includes Fiat and regulated law about tax on mining, we consider it as best position to start with.
Hosting in Slovenia was hard thing to get and it requested process of paperwork and some q/a regarding security and docs on the product (blockchain) but having a lawyer for an investor, who is willing to participate and dedicate more than just financial resources, it was a great help.
Hope this was helpful addition to topic discussion for you guys.
Cheers!
