The Night at the Museum was not just a Movie🦖, it’s an EOS Hackathon in London! 🇬🇧

in #eos6 years ago

Traveling from Beijing to Barcelona to compete in international hackathons the past few years has been quite a journey but never have we attended a blockchain hackathon at this magnitude. It was quite a surprise to have learn that more than 44 countries were present at this EOS London hackathon.

Given that the challenge wasn’t released till the day of the hackathon, it did leave our closest developer friends scratching their head but they knew that AngelHack throws the best hackathons. The top four reasons we put together to attend the hackathon was

  1. Meet other EOS developers
  2. Meet developers from Block.One
  3. Learn the latest dev tools
  4. Coding in a science museum

We later formed Team PocketChain at the EOS hackathon in London with Fletcher and Veronica Flint. We were seeking to have EOS smart contracts work with Alexa so we send EOS to friends and family. We were happy to see in the last hours a smart contract that was able to interact with Alexa with at least two accounts. Whew!

We did have a lot of fun at the hackathon and when the special prizes were announced, we didn’t expect such surprising results! We wanted to give a big thank you to the Block One and to the amazing mentors at the hackathon for their guidance . It really made it a grand experience to behold. 🙏

Given such an amazing experience, my twin and I wanted to pay it forward by helping to organize a workshop to help ease the developer experiences and to help with outreach for the EOS hackathon that is coming up in San Francisco.

This lead us to organize an EOS workshop at Kapor Center the day before the San Francisco hackathon. While you don’t need to be a pro, you do need some resources on your side. We do hope that this workshop would also encourage more women in tech as well as Ethereum developers to participate in this hackathon with a little bit of prep training and confidence to get up to speed and start coding on the latest tools.

Join us on Friday Nov 9, the day before the EOS hackathon and learn how to setup the dev environment, build smart contracts on the EOSIO blockchain, & be given an overview of the EOS21protocol. The event is brought to you by Kapor Center & @sheos.

We are very thankful for the unbelievable experiences in London and we hope to see you there at the upcoming San Francisco EOS hackathon.

P.S We do plan on pushing getting started guides about several developer tools a few days before the workshop and we will do our best to livestream the workshop for anyone who cannot attend.
