Tech Plan:
EOS9cat’s production system is fully in place.
The first consideration is to use Cloud-based servers which have no overhead costs, and the monthly rental cost is relatively low. However, by using cloud service, it will centralize the system to the server provider, which has the probability of having single point of failure.
Given the considerations above, instead of using cloud servers, EOS9Cat will use bare-metal servers which will provide a long-term, robust, and reliable EOS eco-system for dApp developers.
Below are the technical details of our system
Non-Producing Node:
Specification:
- OS: Ubuntu LTS 16.04 (Xenial)
- vCPU: 16
- Memory: 256GB
- Storage:
- 1TB SSD (blocks)
- 1TB SSD (IPFS)
- Network: 1Gbps (up to 25Gbps)
Producing Node:
Specification:
- OS: Ubuntu LTS 16.04 (Xenial)
- vCPU: 22
- Memory: 256GB
- Storage:
- 1TB SSD (blocks)
- 1TB SSD (IPFS)
- Network: 1Gbps (up to 25Gbps)
Backup Node:
Specification:
- OS: Ubuntu LTS 16.04 (Xenial)
- vCPU: 22
- Memory: 256GB
- Storage:
- 1TB SSD (blocks)
- 1TB SSD (IPFS)
- Network: 1Gbps (up to 25Gbps)
Security:
Two levels of security:
Physical security in the data center:
Biometric Scanners & Card Readers
Mantrap Entries
Locking Cages & Cabinets
Closed-Circuit Video Surveillance
On-Site Security
Server and network security where our nodes reside:
We are going to implement the top class network service to protect us from the DDoS attack, such as Cloudflare and Radware. A whitelist firewalled approach will be launched to lock down the BP nodes. All the network traffic will be encrypted by the certificates and the key exchange. The monitoring and failovers will be taken by both human and the automated mechanism to eliminate the node failure and the system failover. Our security team will pay close attention to the latest updates in blockchain security.
Scalable Plan
Along with the increasing number of dApp being created on the EOS blockchain, a block producer needs to have the flexibility to scale up his service.
EOS9cat is ready to double the capacity of the current block producer node when needed. Additionally, EOS9cat is also ready to have an extra storage unit that’s dedicated to IPFS implication.
Our Storage Unit Spec:
Model: X3650M4
CPU E5-2697 v2 2.7Ghz
Memory 128G, Disk 40T
Community
EOS9CAT has been building active technological communities for years in Canada. 9CAT communities have been hosting a few hundred of meetup events in the lower mainland and have more than 1000 members. 9CAT has recently branched out to the University of British Columbia and formed a student club to help students understand blockchain technology.
Since it is in dApp developers’ best interests to vote with their EOS tokens to ensure a healthy blockchain environment where dApp developers can have sufficient resources for dApp development, it is critical to connect and collaborate with dApp developers to receive constructive feedback and build a strong eco-system that will support the dApp developers.
Holding entry-level educational and promotional events to all EOS dApp developers and people who are looking for resources to become dApp developers in EOS network.
Holding hackathons to connect with local and international dApp developers.

Block Producer Roadmap
For our roadmap, please see our website home page and project page: http://www.eos9cat.com/.
In the first quarter of 2018, we have started preparing ourselves to be a block producer. We assembled the team and decided our core value as bridging the gap between the community and the industry.
In the second quarter of 2018, we successfully formed the relationship with 9cat community and the local blockchain industry. At this point, we have successfully grown the connection between the community and industry. Our community so far has more than 1,000 active members and we are hosting more than 4 events each week in different cities to bring the industry experts to the community.
All of the major step ups are happening in the third quarter. We are going to hosting more EOS educational events for entry level developers. We are going to focus on strengthening our relationship with EOS developers and provide them with the support they need for development.
Position on dividend
We believe that transparency is the most important factor in EOS block producer community due to the nature of DPoS. We are determined to serve the EOS community for a long term. All financial benefit from being a block producer will be reinvested in the EOS ecosystem development. Our goal is to see an increasing amount of community involvement to the EOS ecosystem and dApps that are based on the EOS platform.
