Let The Auctions Begin

The hammer has dropped and first Premium Name "eos" has been SOLD for a whopping 50,000 EOS or $441,500 USD. For people who dont know, every 24 hours the premium name with the highest bid will be auctioned off and sold to the new forever owner and its not surprising that "eos" was the first to go. For more information on the process read our article Name Bidding and Premium Names on EOS

Who's The Lucky Winner?

The Auction ended at 2018-07-05 01:26:57 and was won by the Block Producer currently sitting at rank #4 "starteosiobp". We congratulate them on their victory and are very interested to see what they have planned with the name. Who knows, this could end up being the next .com

What's Next On The Chopping Block?

Next to go surprisingly enough is "com" which is currently sitting at 60,000 EOS or $529,800 USD!!, as I write this it has around 9 hours left, so we are expecting it so go for quite a tidy sum. Things are really heating up!

What Happens to the Funds?

Lots of people in the community have been concerned over what will happen to the funds generated by the name auctions. Dan Larimer addressed this in the comment section in our article Name Bidding and Premium Names on EOS

Pretty awesome. Thanks for the update.

I would however not advice people to bid on low end suffixes, because you would bind up your EOS for a VERY long time. If you bid on .random for 1 EOS that auction will not happen for months, years or possible not ever. So only participate in auctions that is realisticly going to end soon-ish.

I think there will be a more interesting market for "regular folks" soon. Looks like we could be trading p2p 12 letter accounts soon.

We agree completely and we would not advise to bid on a premium name without the hope to win the auction. We hope we made that clear in our explanation. We are really looking forward to the next name auctions that Dan proposed will end every 10 minutes.

Eos is one of its kind, it will be huge.

It sure is!

So, nobody can reserve these names and then sell them to the highest bidder - all the profit goes into a pool that will be used to fund community projects? Did I get that right? That’s awesome!

Yes basically. The funds can be used to fund community projects or be burned if thats whats chosen by the community.

So if my name is the 365th name, it take a year before it gets to my turn?

Please i need to understand this part

no, only the name with the highest bid will be auctioned each day. So if your name never gets a high bid it will never get auctioned off.

Lol are you serious? So what's the benchmark for high bid? 1 eos upwards?

"com" sells for 150,000 EOS!
