RE: [Warning] Black Hat Attacks from Steem Whales have been Promised!? [Part I]

in #eos8 years ago (edited)

thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I look through the data and I find stuff, but what I have found, if it is what it think it is there is little hope for steemit.

This is all quite cryptic to me. Does what you have seen relate to illegal content on the blockchain, scalability concerns or something else?

Searching the MYSQL database is something that is perfectly acceptable, it is a publicly available blockchain. People who complain about searching generally are worried about what might be found.

Absolutely! I don't see any difference between using a MySQL, Mongo, or any other database replication of the blockchain, and the RPC server that serves the websites. All should provide the same information unless something really strange is going on. It's all public, and I'd have thought that at least a few dozen people will have the entire blockchain downloaded to their PC for analysis/dev work. Hopefully @officialfuzzy can clarify the what's going on?

In fact @paulag makes a great blog analyzing these databases under the #bisteemit tag

More is coming over coming days. This is just part 1

Quite cryptic to me also.

I greatly appreciate it...
