When Goats Bleat

As we all know that goat is one of domesticated animals being reared at farm,home while some are nomadic that wandering from one place to another in search of pasture. Coming down to Africa in rural areas ,farmers value domestic animals very well and domestic animals very common in africa are cattle,goats, fowls,sheep,turkey,dogs,cats and rabbits etc. Nigeria in particular, goats are reared in nomadic form in the northern part of the country while in the eastern part,it is reared at home in goat pen.
In the Eastern part of Nigeria where am from, almost everybody in the rural areas own a goat pen with alot of goats as it's like a custom that you own a small farm and livestock to supplement any income your getting from other work you are doing. Growing up in rural area was fun to us as after school hour we will return in peer group and played football until evening when we normally go to fetch pasture for our goats in the bush. Fetching grass for our goats then was our daily routine and any day we missed cutting grass for the goats attract serious punishment for us. The joy of it is that we go in groups to fetch pasture.
The specie of goat normally seen or found in Eastern part of Nigeria is West African dwarf goat which it's major characteristics is the dwarfy nature and it can be white,black or combination of white and black in colour.we called them in our local language Ewu igbo. The specie found or normally seen in Northern part of Nigeria is usually more bigger and taller and they are usually brown or combination of brown and black in colour. We called them in our local language Ewu Hausa.

BENEFITS OF HAVING REARING GOATS
Rearing of goats whether in large scale or small scale is a form of farming based on livestock. There are many benefit one get when rearing goats.
Goat dung provide cheap manure for growing of crops. One who have goat don't need to buy fertilisers or manure because it's already available in your goat pen.
Goat meat and milk are good source of protein and is sweeter compare to beef. I challenge to eat both meat and confirm for yourself which one is sweeter.
Goat skin serve as hide is used in manufacturing of leather materials.
Most importantly,the sell of goats provide income.
