DIY: how to give a noble look to pine furniture

in #esteem6 years ago

Hi dear Steemians,

It is a while since my last post but I am currently quite busy with maintaing a new Artist supporting blog @art-venture as well as trying to do some upgrading work to our house.

Finally one of our rooms seems to be ready to accept guests, of course for guests we need the furniture, so looking through web sites I found this nice and simple Drawer, the full name is:

Panama 5 Drawer Chest Solid Pine Wood

That is the final look after upgrading:

Of course we knew that it is a light wood but we thought anyway to upgrade it once it is there. And that is how it was looking BEFORE:

May be there will be some people who just like it like it is but we decided to change the look because of two reason:

  1. To protect furniture and give it longer life
  2. Because the rest of stuff in teh room darker in color so just to fit in to harmony with teh rest.

So here they are out of the box:

Here are my instruments to put the parts together:

I already used Wood Varnish before and was realy impressed how you can give a new noble look to wood, so I have taken a untreated part or furniture that is in the middle, the one that I am covering with varnish is only the first layer and the one far to the top on picture, treated twice already.

After that tehy also been covered with Semi-Gloss finish for sealing that enhances the natural colour of the timber, delivering a lovely, rich sheen.

In meantime while the fronts and sides need to get dry for 24hours I decided to put together the drawers so that they already ready for the next steps:

Now the front side is dry and so the drawer look when it is ready:

That was my two days of upgrading my drawer to noble look with simple Varnish and Gloss:
