Let me show you some real beauty!
Very cold here today, but a clear day with some weak sunshine. Another cold front has hit the country and it stretches from the south here to way up north. We decided to go and have some coffee and tea at the Lourensford wine estate.
As usual I was about with my camera and I was fortunate to get some interesting shots.
Let's have a look!

This is the restaurant at the estate and I love the mountain backdrop. As You can see, the smoke means that they have the in-house fires going!

A bird feather floating in one of the ponds!

Mister bee and two Ladybirds on a Strelitzia!

Two redwing starlings taking off!

An old water lily leaf floating on a pond and I like the fairy lights!

South Africa's national flower, the famous Protea!

Here we have a Hadeda Ibis un-ruffling its feathers in the sun!

Finally, what would my blog be without a squirrel?
We are slowly approaching the end of winter and thankfully it was a wet winter. Most dams have increased water levels by between 10 and 20%, but sadly there are still dry dams in certain drought areas. Many new boreholes are being sunk in the dry areas to access the underground water tables.
We had a lovely time out this morning in a serene setting and thankfully the cold has kept the crowds away. The local Egyptian goose has lost 5 goslings and now there's only 7 left, but I will show you their story in a separate post.
Hope that you have enjoyed the outing!

I couldn't make out what's in the first photo until I look closely, they are amazing! Really love the water lily leaf!!
You certainly have a good eye my friend.
Great to see and appreciate the smaller things in life.
Blessings!
Totally agree, we are blessed.
Beautiful photos! You have a great eye for composition. Thanks for sharing these with us. Sounds like spring is on the way for you, I'm sure you're looking forward to that.
Thank you my friend!
Our official Spring day is on the 1st of September and August is known as the windy month. Nature's way of cleaning up the fallen leaves after winter.
I am one of those that love all of the seasons.
Blessings!

All of your pictures look great, but the one with the redwing starlings show some really beautiful birds! This is the first time I've seen them. The starlings we have here aren't much to look at really, and they are eating machines! :)
Hahaha, eating machines and all.
We have many different colored starlings here in Africa my friend and you are right, as they are forever looking for food.
Blessings!
The feather and the lily shots are so precious, i used to think Africa is just hot, its cold too, I noticed this face consciously today
Thank you Vibi.
According to the current weather forecast, snow is imminent this week and I will do a snowy post once it happens.
Freezing here again today!
Blessings!
wow Africa and Snow - so interestingly unique
Lovely collection of photos, Stephen. The mountains make a great backdrop in first photo. I always happy seeing a squirrel. 😊
Thank you my friend, I also love the mountains, even though this one is called the "Helderberg" and it is isolated from the main range of much higher mountains that cover the area opposite.
Squirrel was placed especially for you Lol.
Blessings!

Nice to know about South Africa's national flower, Protea! So pretty.
Have an awesome day dear Papillon!
Nice walk! It's nice to know that Your winter is coming to an end. Thank you for the bright and colorful photos. I liked the Protea flower. I wonder what : it blooms only in winter or You can see such beautiful flowers more often? Thanks for sharing, @papilloncharity
Thank you my friend.
There are 89 Protea species in South Africa, most of them wild.
Over here they bloom in winter and spring, June to October.
They are certainly majestic flowers.
Blessings!
Thank you for these details, @papilloncharity. It's nice that you can see so many beautiful flowers for so long :))
You always got squirrel!
As always some great photos. :)
