Chapter 36
The Group Battle of the tournament started with more intensity than the Individual Battles. Toro, Lett and the other academies tried their best to claim the championship but Tanhausser academy fought with more intensity. Like a wild beast released on a flock of sheep, Tannhauser academy slaughtered (metaphorically speaking) their opponents. After days of arduous and intense competition, Tanhausser became the final victor.
Toro and the other academies could only let out sighs of resignation as the competition committee announce the winner.
Opposite to the other schools' gloomy atmosphere, Tannhauser's staffs and students are beyond themselves with joy. In response to the victory, the principal announced a three days celebration. Tannhauser hasn't had such a celebration for years and then everyone is allowed to run wild.
Foods and drinks flowed endlessly, with all expenses shouldered by the school and its sponsors. The happiest of all is definitely fatty Jing who ate like a pig. Of course, Dylan just let him be but promises a more intense training to the celebrating fatty. Knowing that hell awaited him, fatty Jing ate and drank like there's no tomorrow.
After the celebration, all the participants are given several days of rest, allowing them to recover their full strength.
At a certain part of the city, Dylan could be seen walking around. he is not there to shop or anything. Dylan just wanted to unwind and decided to take a stroll. While strolling Dylan listened to the people's conversations. Most of the discussions are about the result of the competition. Dylan could hear people talking about him but it seemed that the most popular topic of the conversation is about Dianne. Hearing this, Dylan could not help but smile.
He knew that Dianne's fame skyrocketed after the competition. Her beauty and talent become a constant topic of discussions. Of course, Dylan expected this considering how beautiful she is.
While enjoying his stroll, Dylan felt like someone's observing him. He found this strange as his skill, Misdirection is working full time, hence he was able to take a walk in the city without fans mobbing him.
Dylan frowned and decided to go somewhere with fewer people. Before long he found himself at the riverbank. Due to the time of the day, there are no other people around. He waited patiently for his pursuer to show themselves. Not allowing him to wait for too long, two people wearing trenchcoats and hats approach him. Dylan could not see their faces because of the hats but their figures suggested that they are males. Of course, they could also be females for all he knows.
"Who are you two. Why are you following me?" Dylan asked.
The two men(?) didn't answer Dylans's inquiry, instead, they pulled out two handguns. Dylan's eyes widened when he saw the guns. But before he could even react, the two men open fire. The guns have silencers and the sound of the guns are muffled.
Though surprise, Dylan did not panic and easily dodged the bullets. he didn't even need to use his Shadow Doppelganger to do it. Seeing the guns are ineffective, the two assailants discarded their guns and attacked Dylan with knives. The knives blades are glowing and Dylan knew that they are knives used in hunting demon beast at the Sanctuary.
Dylan, dare not underestimate his attacker and used everything he has to defend and counter-attack.
Androids!
As the battle rages, the trenchcoats and the hats covering the two assailants are destroyed and Dylan could finally see their real appearance. seeing that his opponents are not humans, Dylan's inhibition vanished. His attacks turned more brutal and deadly. And with the help of his Shadow Doppelganger, manages to destroy the androids' power core. With the power core destroyed, the androids' stopped moving.
Seeing that the android can no longer move, Dylan let out a sigh of relief. But seconds later, he felt intense danger and quickly took his distance from the androids.
BOOM! BOOM!
To Dylan's horror, the androids self destruct almost taking Dylan with them. If not for his quick reaction he could have been mortally wounded or worse.
Moments later, Dylan finally snapped out of his shock. From a distant, he could hear sirens, probably the police. Not really surprising considering the explosions. remembering something, Dylan contacted the Coach and reported what happened. After telling the Coach everything, Dylan turned off his communicator, only to receive a call moment later.
Looking at the caller, he was surprised when he saw the name. The caller is none other than Dianne.
