The Poets Cafe.

The Poets Cafe.

The charming Poets Cafe situated in 167 Main St, Montville was established in 1995. Its appearance is similar to traditional Europeon styles, and its customers are drawn to the café for their classic cuisine and their tasty coffee made from fresh spring water sourced from the natural spring below the premises which is also available chilled, from their water station.

But a big attraction for me, as far as the interior is concerned, is the stained glass windows and paintings which adorn the walls. Poets Café is a charming place to visit but the uninterrupted views of the beautiful Sunshine Coast has to be seen to be believed.

Montville is situated on the Blackall Range in Queensland, Australia and has the most wonderful views overlooking parts of the Sunshine Coast and the Hinterland. Montville was first settled in 1887 and its history includes logging and farming which came later and now produces prime dairy, citrus, avocados pineapples and macadamia nuts.

The village has a great selection of unique shops, restaurants and cafes and there are many fine buildings and architectural delights to be enjoyed. It is a haven for lovers of nature, boasting rolling hills, national parks, picturesque lakes, rain forests and waterfalls.

Award winning accommodation includes cosy cabins. Private cottages, country lodges and B&B’s with luxury in mind, making it the idyllic romantic destination for many. Other popular attractions are the art galleries, wineries, cheese factories and craft and clothing shops.

The Poets Café is an idyllic setting for weddings and special functions and a choice of packages are available for up to 100 guests which include both venue and food. For those preferring the out door ambience, whilst making the most of the stunning views, arrangements can be made for them as well.

Tables are available on the surrounding balcony of the restaurant for every day diners with some well positioned to take in the glorious vista towards the coast. The Cafe and Brasserie boasts an enticing classical menu with daily French specials, French wines, Australian wines plus an assortment of French cakes & gateaux.

Situated below the Poets Café is an attractive Art Gallery. They feature exhibitions which include modern landscape, figurative and abstract painting, prints, ceramics, glass and sculpture. First established in 1972, the Montville Art Gallery has a long reputation for exhibiting a wide range of established and emerging Australian artists. Some of Australia's most original contemporary artists live in the Montville area therefore there is no shortage of diverse, local art available.

A patron of Fine Arts and A prominent local business owner Ron Geyl custom designed and built ‘Main Street Gallery, as well as the ‘Poets Cafe’ upstairs. He is a patron of Fine Arts and a passionate supporter of the Arts. It is his influence that has helped shape Montville’s much loved, strong village identity. Lovers of art enjoy great hospitality and fine art surrounded by the beauty of the rainforest which lies adjacent to this building.

Ron welcomes local, interstate and overseas visitors into the thoughtfully designed Buildings and traditional village street-scape, of which he is justifiably proud. As a visitor destination, Montville is unique in QLD. Their valued clients can enjoy great hospitality, and fine arts, all within the same purpose built complex, nestled into the rainforest.

Supporting the gallery through a new direction, the established Main Street Gallery is now being bought up-to-date with dynamic contemporary exhibitions.

You are always most welcome @trudeehunter!

That looks like fun! I know a couple poets and poetry enthusiasts that would love it. Coffee and art is always a great combination, too!

Now, if only I could find a patron for my photography... lol

Coffee and anything make good combinations @fotosdenada But I know what you mean. Montville on the whole, is a mecca for artists or would be artists......(some of the bovine kind......lol)

And hand made crafts feature extensively throughout the village and when people are looking for something different as a gift, they will not be disappointed by browsing the many shops there.

This is my prayer for the day. "Please Patrons........go and support my friend!.....sooner rather than later."

What a cool area I would love to visit there

You'd love the entire village of Montville JJ. It is only an hours drive from home and one of favourite places to spend a few enjoyable hours on a day trip.

if these shops are any indication I can see why it is your favorite if there are many more nice shops there

That's a beautiful clean town indeed. I would love to know more about the culture in this town. Do you get touring visitors often? What are their demographics?

Thanks for dropping by @tafgongthe1st I don't actually live there but if you want to learn more about it I suggest you google the Montville, Queensland.

With a setting like this either would taste good. (:

Howdy there trudeehunter! What a classy cafe! But then, anything I've seen of the Sunshine Coast is classy. Of course, the Gallery below makes it even classier and those are wonderful photos you have that make it look even more charming! Hey, I went to change my vote to increase the percentage and an error message came up saying that I had reached the maximum number of vote changes and couldn't change it anymore. I didn't know there was a limit so anyway I'll be back tomorrow to try again! lol.

Hey @janton don't ever worry about running out of votes with me. Your daily visits and cheerful comments are worth more to me than votes.

Montville is a classy village and there a lot of lovely holiday cottages and accommodation nestled in rainforest areas. All of which is surrounded by appealing farms or homes built on acreages. I always enjoy visiting Monville and Maleny which is not far from there and very picturesque. I have submitted photos from both places before but still have more to share, so hopefully you'll get to them when I do.

Howdy again trudeehunter! first of all I'm glad you said that about the votes and your kind words mean alot also! My voting power is down to 40% so I need to take a day or two to recharge, that's going to be tough because I vote all day long. lol. But I want to set up some auto voting, do you do that? I miss people sometimes or forget to get to them because I'm trying to follow too many so autovoting makes sense.

As far as Montville..well shoot, all of Australia seems to be a photographer's paradise! lol. So I'm looking forward to any and all photos from you.

I meant every word @janton I know some people get very peeved when others leave a comment without voting but that is never been a requirement for me. If someone takes the time to read my post and leaves a positive comment, then I take that as a compliment.

I haven't got on the autovote bandwagon and I'm not sure if that is the best decision but I enjoy having control of my voting as I don't like to limit when and to whom I want to encourage with a decent vote.

Australia has so much to offer for keen photographers but not all areas are picturesque or appealing. Just like anywhere, we have plenty of neglected or undesirable areas but I'm not inclined to take photos of them.

Howdy trudeehunter! Well, I know what you mean about the voting issue, that's why I haven't switched to autovoting yet but I'm losing alot of curation by not doing that. Plus, if I get on autovoting then I don't have to worry about missing anyone.

I'm following so many accounts that sometimes I forget about one or two for several days and miss voting for posts. In other words at my level, 16+ hours a day, 7 days a week or whatever, I'm working hard but not smart.

In fact, just last night I had a businessman look at my account and tell me what a disaster it was! lol. Because my curation was pitiful. But the only way for me to correct that is to get on autovoting. But I like the personal touch and manual voting, automated is too impersonal but I need to adapt it to at least some accounts that I have trouble getting to consistently.

What a lovely spot! I could see myself enjoying a nice cup of coffee there - or perhaps some of that wine you mentioned. Beautiful place to enjoy the scenery and the people watching too! Resteemed with pleasure :-)

Thank you kindly Keith. I'm sure you'd feel right at home in Montville. I wouldn't need much persuasion to live there if an ancient aunt (who doesn't exist) left me her charming cottage (that doesn't exist) her inheritance.......(which certainly does not exist ......sadly. lol)

Yep, I'm going to cash a non-existant cheque and fly right over!

That will give me just enough time to roll out the red carpet to give you a warm Aussie welcome my friend. Don't forget your camera.
