Metropolis Today: The Shifting Plans for Ethereum's Next Big Upgrade

These are just a few benefits metropolitan, the next upgrade to Atrem Blockchain, when it is finally unveiled, the commitment to introduce. The subject of long curiosity and debate, in the first four steps of 2014, the third step of the rademap was officially presented, which could constitute the most significant changes in the platform.

But for the recent technology, there is a real risk of rollover, just from a groom.

It stands today, set to include 9 atherium improvement protocols (EIP), or separate code patches in Byzantium network. These include the combination of disadvantages, embedded transaction data, 'return data' operation, 'static call' operation, new priccompiles, a problem lapse feature, and transactional transaction transaction receipts.

These are all engineers to make the network function more effective at reducing potential exploitation. The most accurate small details that will not be obvious to the developers.

However, some are quite significant.

Changes are underway, which will handle the faulty code in smart contracts, so that the payment fails if the programs are wrong. In addition, these changes will have a transitional effect for the life cycle of a contract, because contract upgrades can be predefined in the original code.

The contracts will also be safe, because some changes are engineered to protect from a re-promotion attack (when the unreliable code enters an agreement to integrate it).

A new feature for embedding transaction data in receipts is that it will make it possible for light clients to determine whether a transaction is successful or whether virtual machine transactions are not effective. This will also affect off-chain equipment.

Another upgrade will be delayed by the bombs, which are currently exploded across the network, so that the transaction time is not intolerable. (Transaction time is about 25 seconds - higher by 10-second level of atherium.)

This update will also reduce the rewards that are offered for blocking miners, which means the mining process will be quick and cheap.

Another mining factor, by avoiding a previous error in the difficulty correction, is more stable during block time that insurance.

New pricompamax releases in Byzantium created some paths known as Z-Spark - a cryptographic method for the first time, allowing real private transactions on the etherom network. This is the first comprehensive application of technology which is produced in collaboration with Z-cash, secret-centric cryptocurrency.

Constantipole

So, what's missing? Unfortunately, no release date set for Constantipol, metropolitan's second hardfork. It is found that because of some editing threats to set the deep set of atrial code, a number of possible exploitation opened the door.

An EIP is designed, however, by facilitating the transaction evaluation process, lighter clients prepare a way for applying. Currently, the current status of blockkens and the hash of the last 256 blocks is required for evaluation of the agreement. For light clients, this serious data processing needs to be reduced to existing enough - and EIP 96 does it in an elegant way.

However, the main roadblock project planning center is EIP 86, and all the EIPs will appear with the most interesting (and complicated).

EIP 86 wants to bring account security abstraction, new features make accounts more flexible and more customizable for details. Users can define their own security models, write their cryptographic specification on payment.

However, the issues of EIP 86 were so well-organized that they would need a lot of time and effort for addressing correctly.

For one, the protocol is triggered to convert various invariants, opening endless loops of problems. Back in June, a exploitation is discovered that a malicious mining blockcan will allow to take ownership of the wallets by reconstruction, or run repeatedly in the same transaction.

However, it is also possible that the time it takes to finish coding, new problems and potential improvements will arise.
