The myetherwallet phishing scam is not only on Slack. Using Slack is not an inherent threat to myetherwallet. All you have to do is avoid clicking on links from unknown sources. And always verify your browsers address bar is correct. In the current phishing scam the domain has .im added to the myetherwallet address.
You can store your ETH & ETC on your Trezor via MyEtherWallet. You can even print paper wallets from MEW.
I personally don't buy into the whole 'anti-virus' software scam. That's like putting a virus on your system and hoping it will catch a different and newer one that you hope got caught in its last annoying update. And paying for the system hit and inconvenience. My strategy is to access crypto from a PC that doesn't ever go to dodgy websites or access gmail etc. Use a tablet or something for your pron, right?
