There is a high possibility for an inside job.

How this could've been prevented

Use PGP to sign & communicate
Use an ENS (.eth) linked to the crowdsale Address, much harder to fake.
Do NOT use Slack. Very easy to hack/spam, hard to admin. not meant for huge random crowds.
- Use Discord instead

Don't ever use any links for an ICO. You go to the site direct and your wallet direct. I guess in this case though, everyone got scammed.

sad news , I heard it was almost 1000 ETH that was transferred to scammers wallet !!
