Racing through Ethereum mainnet transactions!

Wow, I'm not sure why... but gas fees are nice and low at the moment, with transactions passing in at around 5-7 gwei and not that much more for the priority fee! Of course, with Ethereum being priced at what it is... it does mean that contract executions are still weighing in at around 5 USD per transaction. But still, that is more than worthwhile in order to do do a handful of things that I have been wanting to do on the Ethereum mainnet.

Unwinding some legacy Uniswap positions, claiming a handful of rewards across various protocols, staking some recent airdrops, and doing some Eigenlayer delegations. I think that was mostly it... at least for the moment. Of course, there was a bit of an issue with a bit of a patchy internet connection... these low gas periods do happen at inopportune moments when I'm not in great internet coverage. And that internet access did lead to some things messing up in Metamask... nothing serious, but it wouldn't clear transactions as completed meaning that it wasn't possible to submit new transactions until the illusory "queue" was cleared. And to do that just meant resetting the account transaction history and then restarting the browser. Annoying, but not that disastrous.... after all, all that information is easily available on the blockchain anyway.

I have to check to see if there are any ages old things that need unwinding... now that Layer 2s are much more advanced, it makes little sense to have positions and contracts on mainnet unless you have ETH to burn!

I do wonder how long these low gas fees will last... I'm hoping now that most of the Ethereum mania has gone to Layer 2s that the mainnet fees aren't going to spike up hideously. Of course, during large events like runs or a bull market, there are always going to periods of higher fees, but it has been steadily down since dank-sharding came online. And all the memecoin mania seems to have moved to Solana or the L2s!
