Vitalik “Non giver of Eth” Buterin

Hello everyone, we hope you are having a great week!🥳

Today we are excited to share a short article about someone we have all heard of: Vitalik “Non giver of Eth” Buterin. Vitalik, who is the co-founder of Ethereum is also known for co-founding bitcoin magazine and one of the foremost thought leaders in the cryptocurrency industry.

As many of us are at least somewhat familiar with what Vitalik has going on now. We will take a closer look at his background and what made him who he is today.

Vitalik Buterin was born in Kolomna, Russia. His parents Dmitry and Natalia moved to Canada when Vitalik was 6 years old in search of a better employment opportunities. Vitalik showed perspectives from an early age and was placed in a class for gifted children, having the ability to add three-digit numbers in his age, at least twice as fast as his peers. Buterin continued to show interest in computers and mathematics throughout his childhood. Perhaps his view is most succinctly put with this quote: Education is ultimately much more than simply memorizing individual facts, or even learning individual concepts. “What matters most: learning how to think, learning how to reason and learning how to learn.” 🤔

In 2011 while spending time learning about the bitcoin network, Vitalik met a person on a forum who was trying to start a bitcoin blog and offered 5 bitcoin (about $3.50) to anyone who would write an article for him. Buterin wrote for the site until it shut down soon after due to lack of mainstream attention. Not long after, another person reached out about a new publication called Bitcoin Magazine, a position Vitalik accepted as Co-Founder, for which he wrote in until 2014. Since then, Vitalik has been very active in many blogs, magazines, public speaking events, and notably on Twitter.

🏵It wasn’t until 2012 when Vitalik was introduced to bitcoin by his father, at age 17. That year he received the bronze medal in the International Olympiad for Informatics. After which he visited developers around the world, who shared his enthusiasm for coding and development within the blockchain industry. In 2013, Vitalik returned to Toronto to propose his white paper for Ethereum with Joseph Lubin. Around this time Vitalik was enrolled at the University of Waterloo, but shortly dropped out after receiving the Thiel Fellowship award and $100,000, and went on to working on Ethereum full-time. 🥉

🤓Ethereum, is described as a “decentralized mining network and software development platform rolled into one”, which facilitates the creation of new cryptocurrencies and programs that share a single blockchain is the second blockchain in existence. Ethereum still has the second largest market cap of any other currency. Furthermore, Ethereum has the most developers of any blockchain and seems to be leading development in the space with up to over 50 million addresses. Because of this, Ethereum is particularly interesting to watch with developments in sharding, smart-contracts, a planned consensus conversion to POS (Proof-of-stake), new voting apps, and much more. 🥳

At Noozzle, we love watching thought-leaders like Vitalik leads the way and helps bridge the gap between imagination and reality. His lack of focus on making money, attention to his goals, work ethic, and intelligence can not be understated.

Keep up the great work, Vitalik!
