Ethereum Smart Contracts Workshop by the Open Source University team

in #ethereum6 years ago

We at the Open Source University team have been quite busy lately. That’s because the project is about to achieve major milestone — we are going to disrupt the education technology sector, by bringing online education to the Blockchain. There hardly exists a better place for our software team to be, than on HackConf 2017 — the place that brings learners, academia and businesses together. We decided to organize Ethereum Smart Contracts workshop, and prepare a full-featured Ethereum Smart Contract together with the learners. It was awesome experience which brought enthusiasm in learners and lecturers.

The workshop was organized on September 29th at Sofia Tech Park. Jordan Jambazov and Dobromir Kovachev, developers from our team, opened the event with a brief presentation about blockchain, and various matters related to the technology — trust, cryptocurrencies, distributed systems, the Ethereum platform. We were excited to see so many young people, enthusiastic about this new and beneficial technology.

The practical part of the workshop was to prepare an actual Ethereum smart contract. All participants started by setting up the Truffle Framework on their machines, and then scaffolding their project — Ethereum Pet Shop — based on the official Truffle tutorial.

At the end of the workshop everybody had the project up and running and was a bit more familiar with the Ethereum Blockchain. We were excited to start our journey to the new milestone by applying the Open Source University core values — open learning, direct interaction and sharing.

As part of this new community of blockchain developers we’re feeling really great from the fact that we’ve just met so many enthusiastic and curious minds on our workshop.

We believe that our workshop will encourage others like us to take the chance and redefine the world with bold and innovative ideas.
