Great points. I am new to Ether and still on the fence about it. I only hold the $5 to $10 I have earned from those "faucets" you see advertised everywhere. I have yet to put any actual money into. After reading this, I may just keep my money in Bitcoin with a little distributed out to things like Ripple and LiteCoin.
