Developer update: what are we building?

Hello there,

I’m Raúl, Technological Node of EthicHub. We are building the seed of the platform that will make helping profitable.

This first iteration of EthichHub’s platform is going to be an MVP (Minimum Viable Product), with the goal of proving there are indeed trustworthy agricultural communities in México with profitable projects you can help grow.

Local nodes will upload projects for agricultural communities, lenders will finance projects and the representative of a community of borrowers will receive the funds and return the money back after the lending period.

These first projects, when completed, will also plant the seeds of reputation for future campaigns.

Tech stack

Here is what we are building:

Smart contracts
The backbone of the platform are our Smart Contracts running in the Ethereum blockchain, written in Solidity.

Our pilot lending smart contract , already financed and awaiting for return, taught us we have to alter the flow of our process to minimize inconsistencies between the funding of a project and the exchange to Mexican Pesos.

We are adding our Reputation smart contracts to record the performance of the communities and local nodes.

We want to keep the cost of operating the smart contracts at a minimum for the projects investors and specially the agricultural communities, so certain state transition operations will be covered by the local nodes, or EthicHub.

FrontEnd

The face of the platform will be build with Vuejs, using Metamask as wallet and interface with Ethereum. As usual, web3js will be used to “talk” with the smart contracts.

Backend

We are going to use blockchain to transfer value securely and provide a digital reputation to farming communities… but we still need a backend to cache and filter contract data, notify of new projects and state updates by email, store images (distributed file storage will be incorporated later)… For this we are using Django backed by PostgreSQL.
