The Captain’s Guide to Passenger and Cargo Management

Greetings Pilots and Hive Citizens!

Today we would like to delve a little deeper into the gameplay of eXode and discuss the ways, and reasons, to load passengers and cargo onto your ship.

When playing eXode, your first part of the game is the evacuation sequence. Here you are faced with the impending decimation of humanity and it is your mission to escape the destructive alien force that is attacking the star-base where your spaceship is docked.

The way you play evacuation will set the scene for the entire game. This short segment of gameplay requires lots of strategy and quick thinking to get you out alive with a strong crew and an adequate amount of supplies. These actions will help enable you to survive once you arrive at your destination and establish a new colony.

Loading Passengers

One important step in evacuation is loading passengers on your ship. As you have seen in previous posts there are options to bring your own passengers; such as a Nuclear Familycard to ensure your colony is populated, or single passenger cards such a the legendary Kumicho to help customize the colony for the best strategy you would like to deploy. Maybe you don’t have a single passenger card in your collection and that’s fine too because the space station has many eager passengers that are willing to be rescued in return for populating your colony.

Those passengers that you rescue will provide an important service to your colony given the skills they bring along with them. Depending on your ship (Click here for a few examples)you will have a predetermined amount of passenger slots that will limit the number of passengers that can also be preloaded with your cards, bought with from the station, or a mixture of both.

During evacuation, passengers will approach your ship (watch out for hostiles) and you will be given limited information about them. It is up to you to choose the best crewman for the job to escort them aboard, save them from alien annihilation, and take them with to your new colony.

Now, let’s take a look at some passengers from booster packs you might find and want to bring with you:

Here is the Unstable Genius created by artist @shinoxl. Playing this passenger card could grant you an exponential bonus boost to any attribute and who knows? You might end up with a fully upgraded hyperdrive, impenetrable brain wired shields, or loaded cargo in no time at all! Or he can turn out to be a psychopath wreaking havoc on your entire crew.

So maybe you aren’t the gambling type and would rather bring with a passenger with fixed attributes. Preload the Drachian Commissar to your ship’s manifest and he will go to work recruiting Drachian crew for you. He can be played with Military or Civilian origins and will allow you to bring other Drachian members on board such as this Drachian Assault Trooper:

Loading Cargo

While screening and loading passengers, a good strategy is to simultaneously be loading cargo as well. The cargo you bring on the ship will be the supplies you have to start your colony and that means it’s really important to secure as many as possible.

The same rule goes for cargo as it does with passengers. Based on your ship’s capacity and your card collection you have the option to bring cargo from your cards, load it from the station during evac, or a combination of both.

Our previous post details some of the options when it comes to cargo slots and how planning for the future can have a big impact on what you put in the storage hold of the ship. It’s just a matter of priorities!

Each piece of cargo takes up space on your ship. Whether you have 2 cargo slots or 20, you want to try your best and use each one. Some cargo are larger than others and may take up more space on your ship, but it might be worth it to make some extra space for cargo such as this newly released epic card;

The Defensive Bunker will take up three storage slots, but it will certainly be a great asset to help defend your newly founded colony against hostile threats. The amazing artwork featured on the Defensive Bunker card was created by artist @nachofigx.

For a smaller cargo (1 slot) you will have many options as well, like this Robotic Parts cargo. These parts will come in handy repairing or constructing robots to serve on your colony. They are droppable as well, which means that you can burn the card to “supply drop” it to your colony. So if you bring it with on your ship the card will be reusable for future evacuations and you won’t have to burn it.

Ultimately, your crew (and the passengers you bring to evac) will be the main factor of how fast and efficient the tasks of loading cargo, loading fuel, escorting passengers, defending the ship from hostiles, upgrading the hyperdrive, and manning the shields from attacks will be completed.

The wide range of options provided by countless strategies available in eXode, will guarantee a unique and exciting gameplay experience for every player and offer multitudes of outcomes for each Evacuation you attempt.
