The Other Side Of Pondicherry

in #exxp3 years ago (edited)

When it comes to Pondicherry, its White Town and the rock beach that comes to mind first, no doubt in that. But, when you are there for sometime, when it is not the tourist hours and season, if you walk around a little bit, you'll find a completely different life. And I did too.

A bit different and colourful version of the place.

For not getting into the crowd, I generally avoid going to places on weekends. And it such days in Pondicherry where we went for a walk in otherwise busy White town and surroundings. This is just a few sights from the streets of Pondicherry.

No matter where I go, I find some peace in the mundane things. The best part about Pondicherry’s mundane life I could find were the colourful houses and auto rickshaws.

Yes, they are just so yellow, but don’t you feel a bit happy seeing those bright yellow? I love them!

To consume or not to consume alcohol is a very personal choice. But, it is always a bit sad to see how alcoholism can make someone do things they might not otherwise do.

I love street art in any place. Pondicherry also had some, interesting some. Some of them on cafe walls and some much meaningful. Street art and local markets are some things I always look for when I am in a new place.

The tiny churches, tall mosques and temples all close by with their own little details.

On the other side of the road was this street market where there were fresh vegetables, fruits, corn and the such. Life just goes by busy and normal as usual here.

And then you move along with it, as you are a part of the place.

Beside these shops, there is a main market with many stalls inside. It was closed during that time but I found it was a great way to support the community.

And of course, not everything is all colourful and fun. There are times you meet with something that breaks your heart or feel helpless. Sometimes some scenes make you think what our contribution to all of this is!

But, then you walk along all of that, again.

Those were some of the faces of Pondicherry different from the pretty french town part.

Are you done taking my pic? Can I sleep in peace now?
