Fair warning - some slight squick in this one....
She hacked a wretched cough as her family let the healer into the hut and closed the door against the bitter cold.
"How long has she been like this?"
"Three nights, healer."
The healer thought, then turned to her apprentice. "Bring out the leeches, child. We must balance her humors."
Very clever! A different take on humor. And one which I think is closer to the original meaning of the word.
