2 States In Real💒 South Meets North😍

Hello Steemit !!!

How are are you all doing?

Today, I'm going to share with you about one of the happiest moments of my life. I was on a leave for a few days and had been to my cousin's wedding in Bangalore. You all must be excited to know why I have kept the title as 2 states in real, so let's begin with the journey of how a groom from North India managed to marry his love from South India.

The Bride and Groom Posing For a Photoshoot in Their Wedding Dress

In Indian family arranged marriages are considered superior over love marriages and my family is no different from this generation-long trend. In spite of this, my brother(maternal cousin) had a relationship with a South Indian girl since last 5 years and had decided to tie the knot with her.

It was a tough situation for the two families to flow with the new trends. However, after a series of discussion, thinking and rethinking, our family had finally agreed on my brother's choice. After all, it's his life.

Me Between the Bride and Groom

But, it was tough for the south Indian family to accept the groom from the North. For, my non-Indian readers, it might be little confusing to understand why the issue of North and South a big deal. Let me make it clear for you.

India is a large country with various races, cultures, languages, and religions. Every state is totally different from the other linguistically and racially. And if you consider the two extreme border states of the country, the difference is very stark. For this reason, it is said that, if you board a train in the evening from one state of India and land in another state, you'll feel as if you've landed in another country.

South Indian Color and Flower Art As Marriage Rituals

Indians are very conservative in their cultures and traditions. And for this reason, these differences are there for centuries. That is what India is known for, Unity in Diversity. India successfully maintained this beauty of it through its 70 years of Independence.

Marriage Rituals

However, both sides did not lose hope. They gave their parents time, kept family meetings and slowly the bride's family agreed and gave their relationship a name of love.

The engagement, marriage dates were fixed and the venue was decided. So it was a three-day long programme, marriages were held in both the styles(i.e. both North Indian and South Indian style), relatives gathered from all different places, perhaps this was a dream come true that happened in our family.

People from the South started meeting our families, though there was a bit of language problem. But, all thanks to my brother, he had already made the Kannad language fluent from his soon-to-be bride and introduced everyone from both sides.

Sibling Sisters Posing For the Wedding Photoshoot(Spot Me In The If You Can)

On 29th of June, there was engagement, Sangeet(Musical celebrations) and Mehandi(Color Art in the hands of girls and especially for the bride) function that was held from our side. On 30th of June, we went as the Baarat(the groom's side leaving for the marriage venue is called Baarat in Hindi) to the bride's place for the party and a kind of reception where people came and blessed the couple.

Then came 1st July The Big Day. The groom was welcomed in the South Indian style and a proper South Indian wedding took place. We enjoyed the South Indian dishes served in a typical South Indian way. We were also dressed in proper south Indian attires. It was a lot of fun and enjoyment with the family !!!

The Lady Gang For the Photoshoot

Now finally, a South Indian girl had legally become our very own Bhabhi(sister-in-law). After completing all the rituals we welcomed Bhaiya and Bhabhi with immense happiness and love.

Both of them thanked their families and friends who helped them in achieving this in real. People talk about inter-caste marriages, but seeing it in real feels so good.
