Evanna and Her Bumbo Chair...

in #family6 years ago

This is my 16-month old, Evanna. She was born with spina bifida, and has little sensation below her knees, so will be using a wheelchair at least part of the time as she gets older. Despite having introduced her to the Bumbo chair months ago, she never showed much interest beyond a single push or sitting in it like a regular chair. Until today.

Today, it clicked for her. Before this video, she wheeled from the living room to the kitchen, through the kitchen, back to the living room. Then later, when her oldest sister got home, did a bit more for video.

Watch and enjoy my first video posted to DTube!

Hi there, what an amazing journey for your little girl.
As the foster mom of a baby with disabilities, it is so encouraging to see the progress they make. Celebrate each milestone.
Well done Evanna.

Thanks. It's been a long couple years, but also so good.

Aah bless :) What a wonderful design. Did you make it yourself?
I'm sure she's going to love zooming around the house in her chair.
I shared your video.
Have a great day
Gretha

Thanks! We didn't make this one, though the Bumbo-type Chair designs are common among spina bifida parents. This one isn't actually a Bumbo, but some similar chair with wider leg openings. We got it from another family whose little one outgrew it, as we'll pass on when Evanna outgrows.
