On December 31st, we celebrate the birthday of this great man, my father. We wanted to wake him up and sing to him the happy birthday song (a birthday tradition in my family, to sing exactly at 00:00), but he was already asleep and since we are on holiday and the days here are tiring as hell, we decided not to wake him up and we waited until the next morning.

I'm not sure if it's a good thing that his birthday is on the same day as the New Year celebration, because he has to share the people, the attention and all that, but at the same time, every celebration of his birthday involves a lot of food, happiness and family time, so that's good.

Funny :) My mother has a name day on the 1st of January, so we celebrate it right after midnight.
It's difficult but at the same time fun to have celebrations on same days or right next to each other!
I agree. Every year I have the chance to be next to mom and to celebrate together. But cannot imagine celebrating a birthday or a name day on the 1st in the evening, when everyone is still trying to recover from New Year's Eve 😀
