Plight of The Working Class
This is not just a failing of social services this is a failing to have empathy for the condition of the working class as the liberal elite find ever cheaper labour from around the world, to serve their coffee and clean their streets.
For the last 20 years, since Tony Blair, there has been a concerted effort to shrink indigenous working class families and replace them with cheap labour from around the world.
There has been attacks on working class culture for some time. It has become OK and even cool to mock the working class. This is deliberate.
This process is taking place across the spectrum of government agencies and civil society as a whole.
it's not just social services. although, lets face it, they are at the coal face as it were and as such are childrens last line of defense when all else fails. The police were warned about the rape gangs, social services and local government were warned, yet they chose to not do anything in the first instance and then hide their mistakes and working class communities voices when it hit the fan!!
There's a reason why working class kids are the worst performing group in society. It's not like the narrative will tell you, that they are lazy and feckless but that they don't attract positive discrimination and there is little support for them.
The Narrative
Social services was one of the last government agencies to be privatized. For good reason, it's a bad idea. Yet the changing narrative of the working class and the fact that they have been commodified has opened the door for working class kids to become little more than items on a spread sheet.
Until the narrative changes, nothing will change. Most other groups have protections, rightly so, against other groups mocking them and removing their dignity. There are no such protections for the working class.
If you look back through history you will find propaganda of this kind is often the opening salvo in what becomes an ever more repressive regime for the group that have been picked out.
