The Unexpected Friend

Today is the 7th day, Feio never thought his journey would be so tough. He named his little follower Li'l Red. He found Li'l Red shivering in the cold, alone and famished. Li'l Red is just a baby fox and without proper care, he is left to the mercy of the woods. Feio couldn't let any fox be harmed, he knows he is carrying a loadful but he is not letting this little one off his sight. Every life is precious to him.

Lil'l Red is one spunky little fellow. He refused to give up on living. He was so tiny and weak that he could barely walk. Feio gave his last few crumbs of barley crumbs that he was left and mixed it with the midnight moondew. Feio and his community believed that moondew has magical healing proprieties. It didn't take long before the little one is up and running. He was so happy just to be alive.

The Journey Continues

Feio was devastated after the death of his Grandpa, he was closest to his Grandpa before he passed away. Feio was brought up by his Grandpa and he never knew of any other relative apart from this kind old man that he loved so much. His bag contained the drawings he did together with his grandpa, the acorn seed that he kept with his grandpa, the little handkerchief that his grandpa used, some wood carving tools that belonged to his grandpa. He kept it all in his rucksack.

Those we all too precious to him. Noone in the village knew when he left. He was nobody's child. The kids in the village have their mommy's embrace and their daddy's love but the only love that Feio knew came from his grandpa. His world came crumbling and he was lost. He just wanted to leave everything and move on...

On the 8th day, Feio ran out of his food supply. The rucksack that he carries was starting to take a toll on him, but he can't let it go, it meant everything to him. The baggage is weighing him down and at the rate that they are going, fatigue will consume them before they reach the next village which is still another 3 days' journey on foot.

Li'l Red refused to leave his side, he knew that his friend needs him. Feio was adamant, just like his grandpa. A very proud fellow. Darkness was creeping in and they haven't had anything to eat for the entire day. Li'l Red scratched on the rucksack repeatedly, Feio knew what it meant. He also knew the consequence if he insist on holding on to his past.

The last few days, the walk has been very tiring. He had sores and blisters on his feet. His back was hurting real bad from the thumping of the rucksack to his back and it was also itching. The woods has not been kind to the weak. Many had lost their lives in the woods. To the few that made it alone, they have their stories to tell.

The Tough Call

Feio finally made his call.

He told himself that he gotta let go of the past. If memories of his grandpa is all he have then it shall be so. With a heavy heart, he removed his rucksack. There was some paper crumpling sound from his back, he could not believed it...he had the Wings of Valor. He is a pixie? It is believed that the Wings of Valor is only given to a selected few that possess the courage and spirit to carry out the tradition of the Pixies which is to protect their Magical Kingdom. He is now a Guardian Pixie. His entire life, he has never seen anyone with it except through the stories that his dear grandpa told him by the fireplace.

Li'l Red couldn't contain his excitement. He was running up and down. He didn't know what it is but he know it is a good news. Feio was still dazed by his discovery. He knew that being bestowed with this gift also carries with it a heavy responsibility. He is prepared, but first he must eat.
